HawkEye 360 is an RF analytics company that is developing a constellation of small satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) to generate reports on wireless signals that can be used to track and monitor global transportation networks, assist with emergencies, as well as provide other data analytics services to a broad range of customers. The company seeks to provide highly accurate activity based data products by processing multiple sources of information (RF, Imagery, open source Internet) to create a wealth of current and historical data useful for commercial and government customers.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

An Opportunity to Invent and Innovate
HawkEye 360 is currently seeking a Senior Data Analytics Engineer who will be part of an essential team that designs, implements, supports and utilizes a scalable analytics architecture and complementary analytic products. The team will aim to invent processing components within the analytics architecture to derive data products with commercial potential on topics ranging from behavior characterization and geospatial prediction to visual data representation. The analytics team will also take the lead integrating processed data and analytic products with systems developed by customers and partners.

 

The Senior Data Analytics Engineer will have the important responsibility of conceiving and implementing analytic components able to leverage data unique to HawkEye 360 to solve customer problems. Analytic components may vary from deep convolutional neural networks and bayesian propagation networks to statistical anomaly detection; the Senior Data Analytics Engineer will play a role in creating visualizations for results.

Additionally, the Senior Data Analytics Engineer may contribute to the efforts of HawkEye 360’s processing team, especially as relates to implementing and analyzing geolocation algorithms. He would contribute as a member of the analytics team to the creation and maintenance of the software architecture used to deploy analytic components, as well as to the formation of requirements for this architecture as it evolves. 
The Senior Data Analytics Engineer reports to the Director of Analytics, and interfaces with directors and engineers on the signal processing and space systems teams.

Responsibilities

We’ll Expect You To… 

  • Derive and implement analytic components to predict or detect behaviors of interest, predict or determine spectrum usage patterns, develop profiles for RF-emitting actors or to answer similar and related questions using statistical and machine learning methods.
  • Develop visualizations and other analytic end-products.
  • Coordinate with the signal processing team to develop shared interfaces and formats for supported datatypes, specify RF data processing requirements for analytic products, and direct RF tasking.
  • Support interfacing raw data from the processing team and analytic products from any stage in the analytic processing pipeline with customer and partner systems as required.
  • Contribute to maintaining the software architecture for deploying analytic components as a member of the analytic team.

Qualifications

You’ll Need to Have…

  • 5+ years professional experience with data analytics or equivalent professional experience as a software developer for quantitative applications.
  • B.S. or higher in elecrical and computer engineering, statistics, mathematics, physics or another quantitative field with relevant work in statistical modeling, machine learning or data analytics contributing to that degree. Particularly strong work experience may be deemed equivalent for candidates with alternative or lesser degrees.
  • Demonstrated effective experience with computational statistical methods and modeling or machine learning using some combination of Python, C/C++ and Java..
  • Experience blending analytic and simulation modeling approaches to problem solving
  • Solid background in software development as part of a team with object-oriented concepts a strong plus.
  • Experience leading to facility working with large volumes of data such as through aggregation pipelines in mongoDB or through writing MapReduce routines.


We’d Like to See…

  • Professional experience or experience in pursuit of a degree using open source libraries for computational machine learning (Keras, Theano, TensorFlow, Caffee, etc.).
  • Experience with or clear ability to use and support (some of) Docker, Storm, Heron, mongoDB, PostGIS, OpenLayers or other equivalent technologies.
  • Experience with geolocation algorithms and/or measuring geolocation results.
  • Experience with communications and/or software defined radio and software packages such as GNU Radio.
