BridgeSat is currently seeking a Director of Business Development. The Director of Business Development will meet regularly with the satellite and telecommunications industry to develop business opportunities for BridgeSat. The ideal candidate will come from a technical background, preferably having done technical development work earlier in their career, before evolving into a business development role.



  • Meet regularly with the satellite and telecommunications industry to develop business opportunities for BridgeSat.
  • Travel as needed to support meetings and conferences. Applicant should expect that 50% of their time is spent on travel, with approximately 75% domestic and 25% international.
  • Become knowledgeable about all technical elements of laser communication systems to effectively present basic design information to customers.
  • Develop a general business development strategy as well as a specific strategy for each customer opportunity.
  • Lead the technical and contracts team to develop proposals, presentations, and contractual documents.
  • Analyze requirements from customers, and effectively communicate these requirements to the engineering team.
  • Develop and present materials for briefings to internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate the creativity, quick learning, and intelligence to develop new business development concepts and ideas. Outside the box thinking is strongly encouraged!
  • Prepare reports for, and present to, the BridgeSat Board of Directors, CEO, Senior VP of Business Development and the BridgeSat leadership team.


Candidates should have experience in/with:

  • Commercial and/or government business development in space-related or communications-related industry is desired, but industry experience in telecom, internet, and/or new technology will also be considered.
  • Writing proposals and contract documents.
  • Communicating effectively to a diverse technical and contracts team.
  • Confidently interacting with customers, investors, engineers, and management.
  • Experience supporting negotiations
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Exemplary communication and presentation skills, and ability to handle high-stress situations.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in an Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science related field. MBA is desired, but not required.
