The Design Engineer is accountable for creating and maintaining the Network Operations Center capability for Federated's wireless ESC sensor network, and supporting our CBRS Shared Spectrum system.  The ESC Network Manager will define end to end system requirements, design platform and interfaces, network SLAs, and establish tools and test methods.  The selected candidate will assess and select a NOC service provider, ensure implementation to schedule and performance, and provide ongoing vendor management.  You will gain ESC sensor technical expertise, and understand the overall Cloud based Spectrum controller in order to drive improvements in ESC network availability,  cost effectiveness and integrate new sensors.  This position provides a prime opportunity for an experienced Manager to make a significant impact on a growing company with a large market opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Define the system and processes required to deploy, operate and support sensor sites to allow for proper operations (including Sensor, power, environmentals and backhaul)
  • Define end to end operational processes that link (outsourced) NOC function responsibilities to Customer Support, ESC Operations, and Engineering
  • Work with Product and Engineering to prioritize needed SAS capabilities related to sensor information
  • Develop process and playbooks for Tier 1 through Tier 3 capabilitities, and collaborate with Federated Customer Support and Engineering teams to integrate across these systems to provide excellent end customer support.
  • Ensure proper dispatch of field services for any ESC location components
  • Create RFP for NOC services, evaluate candidates, and make selection recommendations based on defined requirements and criteria.
  • Set and Manage NOC SLAs that align with business goals set in Operator contracts and support internal availability and cost of service targets
  • Work with Customer Support, NOC vendor, and Engineering to Drive continuous improvement
  • Integrate processes into key Federated tools: JIRA, Atlassian Service Desk and Salesforce.com
  • Drive efficiency through cloud based tools, process automation, and simplification of systems
  • Budget management and cost analysis for ESC Operations

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in defining and implementing an Operational capability for a sensor network, , wireless systems, or a complex real time system.
  • 6+ years experience in system design or engineering for wireless services, wifi, Cloud systems,  or complex control systems.
  • 3+ years experience System Integration, and end to end system performance
  • Experience in interfacing basic telecom services and protocols for wireless modems and power systems using SNMP
  • Familiarity with cloud software development, triage and maintenance is critical
  • Software development and workflow management tools, such as JIRA, Service Desk, Saleforce.com
  • 2-3 years experience managing a major vendor or service provider contract, including RFP creation, vendor selection, SLA management and managing new capability introductions
  • Strong sense of ownership. High degree of personal initiative.
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical field. Business, process engineering and/or data analytics coursework desirable. Master’s degree preferred
