The Technical Director is a team leader providing hands-on technical leadership to a team of 5-10 software engineers on the requirements gathering, design, specification, implementation, testing and fulfilment of project deliverables for Federal government projects.


This person requires to be proficient in SDLC, TDD, agile and waterfall development methodologies. Has demonstrated experience delivering high quality software understanding quality criteria and metrics. A general understanding of wireless communications is required.  


This person will report into SVP of Engineering, works with other engineering directors and senior leadership to define and execute on technical and contractual deliverables. Meets with partners and customers.


This person shall have direct accountability for all project technical decisions. As the manager of a team, this Technical Director will source talent and lead the hiring as required by the project scope. In addition will provide guidance and mentorship to team members.


  • Directly manage a team of 5-10 software engineering comprised of onsite and remote team members to design and deliver software and services to meet specific project milestones.
  • Work closely with engineering team members and leadership as needed for knowledge transfer and support
  • Lead architecture, design, software development, verification and delivery process
  • Manage Software Development Lifecycle and Verification using an agile process
  • Responsible for gathering development requirements, creating system architecture, functional and design specifications
  • Responsible for working with customer and partners for inter-operability testing and final solution deployment
  • Reports status against project plan to internal and customer facing parties


  • 5+ year management experience in a software development organization leading teams of 5-10 technical staff
  • 10+ year experience working in projects with software testing and software deliverables
  • In-depth technical experience in REST, python or java
  • In-depth experience in porting software between on premise server configuration and AWS cloud environment
  • Experience working in an agile (scrum) development environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Working experience with Atlassian tools
  • Understanding of wireless communications and MATLAB wireless simulations a plus
  • Technical experience: Python, Java, RESTful interface design, Ansible, Apache, GitLab, Alfresco, AWS, Mongo DB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Jenkins, Test Automation software


Travel may be required to partner and customer locations (10%)
