    HawkEye 360 is a RF analytics company that is developing a constellation of small satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) to generate reports on wireless signals that can be used to track and monitor global transportation networks, assist with emergencies, as well as provide other data analytics services to a broad range of customers. 


    Build a Constellation of RF Sensing Satellites

    We are currently seeking a Space Systems Engineer, who will be part of a team that is responsible for the overall spacecraft and RF payload design for the company’s constellation.  The Space Systems team will work across the Engineering teams to derive the requirements for the satellites and payloads, such that the appropriate metadata makes its way downstream. The Space Systems Engineer will also support development of processing algorithms onboard the payload. The Engineer will report to the Director of Space Systems, and interface with directors and engineers on the Signal Processing, Analytics and future Launch, FlightOps and GroundOps teams. 


    We’ll Expect You To…  

    • Support the design of the overall spacecraft and RF payload architecture (bus, SDR, antenna, etc.) 
    • Identify and evaluate potential technology (bus/payload) sources that meet the architectural requirements. 
    • Reduce technical risk by performing technology demonstrations, tests and integration activities leading up to launch and operations.
    • Support the design review process leading up to final systems development: PDR, CDR, etc. 
    • Coordinate with satellite and payload vendors and track the schedule of systems delivery. 
    • Deliver key technical space, ground and ops solutions to support the mission. 
    • Implement technical, architectural, and programmatic solutions for future satellite operations (in the initial absence of Launch, FlightOps, and GroundOps teams).


    You’ll Need to Have…

    • 5+ years professional space systems engineering experience with hands-on spacecraft development and operations experience desirable. 
    • S. or B.S. in space systems engineering, physics or another engineering field with relevant work in spacecraft and mission design. 
    • Particularly strong work experience may be deemed equivalent for candidates with alternative or lesser degrees. 
    • Experience deploying ground support equipment for launch and operations
    • Demonstrated experience with spacecraft C2
    • Demonstrate effective experience with computational problem-solving methods and modeling using some combination of Python, C/C++, Matlab, STK, etc. 
    • The ideal candidate will have contributed significantly to a number of successful space missions. 
    • Experience with open-source software and systems a strong plus. 

     We’d Like to See…

    • Demonstrated experience in software development as part of a team with object-oriented concepts using Python and C/C++
    • Understanding of communications systems, RF and/or software defined radio and software packages such as GNU Radio a strong plus.
    • Signal Processing and algorithm development for space based sensors and processing
    • Demonstrated background in FPGA development
